William Tarpeh was in one of the very first cohorts of Cooke Young Scholars, and his work has always focused on solving real people's real problems. Will studied chemical engineering and African studies at Stanford University as an undergraduate, and then went on to graduate school at UC Berkeley, where he earned his Ph.D. in environmental engineering. After completing his postdoctoral work at University of Michigan, he returned to work at Stanford as an assistant professor of chemical engineering. His Tarpeh Lab works to revolutionize the recovery of resources through the treatment of liquid waste.
